Kenzo Minami, originally from Hyogo, Japan, graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in Product Design after majoring in Western Philosophy in Japan. Before he established himself as an artist / designer, he started his career as a set designer for TV broadcast networks, working with MTV, the Sci-Fi Channel and others. This lead to shooting his own shorts and TV spots, and working in broadcast as an art director, director, and motion graphic designer for 7 years.
As an artist, he has been featured in multiple publications including V Magazine, Flaunt, Blackbook, SOMA, Relax, Blag, Lodown, XLR8R, WAD Magazine, Gas, Popeye Magazine, Dazed and Confused Japan, W Magazine, +81, MdN, i-D, Kelvin Colour Today (dgv), This Gun Is for Hire: From Personal to Corporate Design Projects (dgv), Hidden Track (dgv), Introducing (dgv), Fashionize : The Art of Fashion Illustration (Delicatessen), Fashion Illustration Next (Thames and Hudson), IdN magazine, Monitor, Form, Pour le Victoire, Heavy Change, and Flip the Script, among many others.
His work and design has been commissioned by Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, Raf Simons, International DeeJay Gigolo, Fuse, VH1, Sharp, Seven New York, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Converse, Earnest Sewn, Hankyu, Kose, Kidrobot, Tribeca Grand Hotel among others.
His garment project line was launched in Spring 2004.
Kenzo lives and works in New York City.
