Emma Ferguson is a British artist specializing in embroidery. Ferguson entangles notions of this traditional practice with technology fetishism. Her original aim was to become a graphic designer, but somewhere along the way Ferguson became enamored with the needle and thread. "With each new project I was given, the outcomes became more tactile. The work I produced was very much a reaction against computer generated imagery appearing all around me on club flyers, magazines and design books. Technology is something that's considered quite masculine, giving it a feminine touch pulls the two opposites together.
