INTRODUCING BRUNO LEVY'S VERY LIMITED LINE - EXCLUSIVELY FOR IDLM.

Bruno Levy has mastered everything from directing music videos to opening a sandwich cafe in Nepal. A New York native and NYU graduate, Levy has just returned home from three years in Nepal, and he’s teamed up with IDLM in creating an exclusive line of shirts and shoes. He has created 7 unique and wearable art pieces, each item being the only one of its kind in existence. Using washable and waterproof fabric inks, Levy has created amazing one-of-a-kind garments you can be sure to be the only one wearing.

IDLM You just moved back from Nepal after living there for several years. How has your experience there influenced your art?
BRUNO LEVY
Nepal is a very calm and quiet place. I moved there for a bit of introspection. The support of the people as well as having sooo much free time allowed me to try new things out and reconnect with some of the thing I used to do as a teenager, like street art or just simply doodling for hours. Also I was influenced by tibetan art, and its iconography. In Nepal, the art tradition is more of a craft which is passed down from generation to generation. The artists' goal is to reproduce an image of perfection rather than to create and express the ego. Although that is changing, I think it helped me redefine what was important to me in art, which is simply drawing to draw.

IDLM You've worked on many different projects over the past few years. Of all the things you've accomplished, what is your favorite?
BL
Favorite, or most rewarding? I think in life I look for things that help me evolve as an individual, even if the process is painful. I guess, prostrating for 8 hours a day for 6 months on a wooden board was the most awakening.

IDLM Are there any historical or contemporary artists that you specifically admire?
BL
Yes, too many, and if I name them you might know who I steal ideas from so I better not.

IDLM Apart from other artists and their work, what inspires you?
BL
Music is a huge inspiration for me, I think when I hear certain songs my mind wonders in colors.

IDLM You are becoming more involved in tattooing recently. What appeals to you about tattoo art?
BL
Initially I started tattoo because people wanted my drawings on their bodies, and I thought it could be interesting. As I started getting deeper into it, I quickly became interested in looking at the line which is sooo important in tattooing and the similarities with some of the art that was inspiring me from Tibet. The iconography was just as relevant and the role of the artist started to resemble the craftsman. But I think the most powerful thing about tattoo is the life connections that I make every time I tattoo someone.

IDLM Do you believe artistic creativity is innate, generally and personally?
BL
I think there is some innate properties that have to be exercised in order to develop as an artist.

IDLM How separate are you from your art?
BL
Not at all, I don't think anything one observes can exist separate from anything else.

IDLM In a world saturated by images and with the speed of technology now, do you feel two dimensional art is being effected?
BL
Of course technology has affected two dimensional art, but I think in a positive way. I think people will always want handmade things, and for me technology just allows for more information and access to different art from anywhere.

IDLM Must art have a relationship with fashion?
BL
I think that all art can inspire artist in different mediums, a painting can inspire a fashion designer, and vice-versa. But a painting can also exist just as a painting, we don't all have to wear it, I think it would be too heavy especially framed with the nice oak.

IDLM What's your next project?
BL
ROCK N ROLL
